Subject: Complaint on News shown on your network
Dear Mr. Agarwal,
This is with reference to news on Oil Sector Officers Strike on Zee News on 8th Jan 09.
I regret that the facts were distorted and shown in news. I strongly feel that no attempt was made to ascertain the actual facts w.r.t. salary revision and stand on strike.
The facts which your channel did not know (I assume because you have shown in that way) are as under.
1) Our (Oil PSU Management Staff) salary was last revised in January 1999 which was due from 01.01.1997 that to after one day strike by us. There also government did not accept our genuine demand of revision after every 5 years and we have to agree on 10 years revision.
2) Now when salary was due for revision wef 01.01.2007, government didn't pay attention to our genuine basic right of salary revision and kept on prolonging the matter till now. Let me remind today it is 10.01.2009 and we are yet to get any solution.
3) Then Government appointed Justice Rao committee to look into salary revision and our genuine demands. They have given their suggestion and after that in Nov 2008, Government revised our salary structure but the increase was very minimal and many of our demands were overlook.
Your channel was showing salary of "D" grade officer as more than 1.00 lakh/- per month which is very wrong figure and I am surprised that from where you have got this salary figure. If you can prove it, we will not require any salary revision.
Enclosed pl find my salary of Dec 2008 which clearly shows as 62,655/- per month(take home 32230.00) after sixteen years of service. Also you have compared our salary with salary of army personnel which is very wrong way of comparing. You cannot compare our salary with them because their nature of job and ours is totally different. It would have been fare if it was compared with salary of Private sector officers of same field like RIL, Shell or other related fields like Infrastructure & IT.
The salary of army personnel should be compared with the Bureaucrats and if you remember the recent resentment shown by Army personnel with the Government wherein they have been peeved by the bureaucracy for downgrading their ranks.
You please do not forget that fuels for the army personnel in difficult terrain like Ladakh/Kasmir/North East sector is transported by us not by private players like Reliance or Essar.
We, the oil sector gives the maximum revenue to the Govt. of India, then what is wrong in asking for our genuine demands.
I am deeply hurt on your showing such wrong picture to people. You have not tried to look into problem of ours and what caused us to take such a step of strike. We are responsible officers of Oil PSU and realize our duty very well. Have you seen any of bus / rail services abandoned due to strike?
We were fighting for our genuine demands and not to cause any problem for public as we are also part of public and understand problems in same capacity.
I expect an apology and a special news item from your side for restating facts to Indian public failing which today 10 x 55000 = 5.5 lakhs of viewers in India have lost faith in your channel and may be tomorrow 5.5 crores and so on.

Until the media paints the correct picture, we should not rest. We should keep bombarding them with our facts & figures and the truth behind our strike until they tell the world the genuineness of our demands and the strike.
ReplyDeleteThe OIL companies are making payment to the employees from their own revenue and not by Govt. directly. When these companies like IOCL, BPCL, HPCL, GAIL, ONGC etc. are all Navratna companies ( means companies can take internal decision on their own) then why Govt. is not empowering the respective boards to decide on the pay structure for their own employees ??

Zee News has been the most Notorious News channel in Suppressing the facts & going to town with their most un-ethical news coverage till date about the Govt.Version of the the False Propaganda sitting inside AC Offices. Even their Editors did not have the ethics of verifying the News that was beamed across the Channel screaming a bundle of lies packaged for our gulliable public!!. Now when the same GOVT. has just showed the taste of their own Stick by way of coming up with a Content regulatory Bill these Highly Oppurtunist Media men are busy crying Hoarse about the "Freedom of Press " which they had pawned to the same Govt. during the entire Oil Sector Strike....!!! Shame on our Media for being the perfect Politician who can package even the death of Ethical Journalism as Victory of Journalism of Victimisation........ Neverthless Kalyug shall ensure that we all Pay for our Sins in this Lifetime only & all the Honest Souls must ensure that Sinisters are Equally punished befittingly...........Till such time All PSU Vibrant Souls must write & write.....
ReplyDeleteOH YES YOUR DEMANDS ARE SO REASONABLE TO BE COMPARED TO THE SALARIES OF THE PRIVATE COMPETETOR LIKE RELIANCE & ESSAR YOU SHOULD BE GIVEN THE DEMANDED HIKE AS YOU ARE THE BEST POSSIBLE HUMAN RESOURCE WITHIN THE COUNTRY OR THE SECTOR. DEAR FRIENDS DO YOU PEOPLE KNOW THERE WERE MORE THAN 150 EMPLOYEES IN RELIANCE PERTOLEUM RETAIL DEVISION HERE IN PUNJAB AT THE TIME WHEN THEIR RETAILING BUSINESS WAS AT FULL THROTELL BUT AT PRESENT THEY ARE LEFT WITH JUST 5 EMPLOYEES TO HANDEL THE STATE. MANY OF YOUR COLLEGUES HAD SHIFTED TO PRIVATE PLAYERS LIKE SHELL, RELIANCE,ESSAR ect. AND MANY MORE FORIGNE PLAYERS WOULD HAVE ENTERED THIS SECTOR AND HAVE OFFERED YOU YOUR DESIRED SALARIES BUT YOU PEOPLE HAVE HARMED YOURSELF BY YOUR OWN DEEDS.

One of your Dealer here in Punjab had pointed out that there is a minimum shortage of 80Lts per 1000Lts of petrol only in the transit from the Depot or Terminal to the Retail Outlet, which is not compensiated by any parent company so can you justify how this business is running profitable up till now as if you calculate this loss is bigger than what the dealer will be earning from the selling of the product, you also better know how this is compensiated and what all you people get in return so tell me now what should be done to your demands?
The media people have shown their actual colour. Why should they be independent (recent hue & cry when the govt. tried to table a bill trying to cap the media) if they can be dictated by the govt. like the recent one concerning the oil sector officers' agitation? They are none other than hypocrites, as we see in the TV regularly.

I can write 100s and 100s of comments about pvt companies as I have experience of working both in pvt and psus. and mind you not ordinary pvt cos but the likes of asian paints and icici pru. But I guess you open a blog on the merits of pvt companies, i will be obliged to tell you about the "ETHICAL" practices of all such pvt companies including your Reliance, Essar etc. "Jinke Ghar Sheeshe ke Hote Hain, Woh Doosron Ke Gharon Par Pathar Nahin Phekte".

ReplyDeletei do not know what are you talking about. But you must remember the fact That reliance is always benefitted through Tax holidays, they always demanded tax free holiday. No PSU charman hs gifted any Jet to their wives at the cost of shareholder. For what you are talking about. Do You know That at the time of India-Pak War in 1971 all these private Oil companies has refused to supply fuel at warfront. At that time GoI was forced to nationalize them.
My dear Friend You know all those people who were sacked by their Private employeers it is their fault why they are working for private houses and for their own pockets? They had never worked for the nation.
Even UNO has indicated hand of RIL in Oil for food program in Iraq. Why no action has been taken againest Reliance in that Case?
Reliance has never done anything for the nation, they has always shown the profit after begging the tax holidays. They are on the land grabbing spree on the pretext of SEZ. Had they had done anything on this front other then grabbing the Land?
Why you people are working for such anti-people Industries? My friend Do you know How much Govt has given them in the mode of Tax holiday. The entire amount can fullfill the need of our country's need for all social schemes like drinking water, Education nad helath for the next Fifty yers. This is cheating to my countryman. Till yesterday people were talking about the Satyam and see what they had done to entire IT industry and to the image of my country.
i am sorry to say that you are not knowing the full pictures about the PSU's contribution.

Hai, abhishek where are you in India or in europe., Indian politicians are the role model for How a politician should not be., 99% of the petrol bunks in India are owned /coowned by our idiotic scoundrel criminal Indian politicians., and the transport business too controlled by the same idiotic scoundrel Indian politicians.
you know , manjunath a sales officer from indian oil, found one (tip of iceberg)bunk owner mixing fuels with cheap solvent and selling the same to earn more profit at the cost of customers engine and their hard earned money ., He the great Manjunath who took action against these criminal dealer but the dealer (the scoundrel politician owner of the bunk) killed manjunath for obvious reason, OUR BLOODY GOVT OF INDIA TAKE NO ACTION AGAINST THESE SCOUNDRELS WHO KILLED MANJUNATH for his Honesty( Except some bronze medals and some award made of just paper )., ONE OF THE CLEANEST OFFICERS IN THE FIELD
Now I come to your question. The transporters who are the owners of the transport , simply outsource the business by appointing drivers ., the owner pay no salary to these drivers but allow /give every freedom to the driver to do anything they want when transporting the fuels at their own risk., so these drivers to earn bread and butter and to compensate the salary, syphoning off fuels to their capacity every trip and sell it to local people,
These drama / Story is well known to every one in this country( except you I guess ), and if you try to stop this , your fate will be the same as Manjunath, you try if you have a guts., and our duty is ensure quantity and quality till the truck goes just out side the main gate. And it’s the duty of Govt of India to ensure that the country is free from loot, criminals and thief.
I wish to tell you one thing this is not happening without the knowledge of the helper (like watch dog) Sent by the same dealer to bring the product to his bunk., the same person sent by the dealer hand in glove with the drivers share the loot.,so in this case if the dealer claim shortage during unloading he is fool., we ensure the 12000 liters at our end in his presence of the watch dog sent by the dealer and it’s his business to carry the same to his bunk. If you want to me to do the police job, then we can abolish all police stations in our country, if the dealer are not happy we are pleased to run the bunk on ourselves.
The truck was filled with 12000liters in the presence of the watch dog, how come it reduced to less than 12000 when reaches the bunk., you should undertand / tell me how does the fuel disappeared during the travel of around 40 KMS, if you are a scholar., or My sysmpathy is always with you if you cant understand the mafia in India and I may be forced to guess you must be fool.

ReplyDeleteYour channel's reporting of oil officer's stir has exceeded all limits of ethical reporting and factual presentation of the situation, comparison of Army men with oil sector officers cannot be justified by any stretch of imagination .
Your channel's report has damaged the institution OSOA beyond repair , officer's were only struggling for a reasonable and just revision in their wages, that too after 12 years. Your highly distorted and exaggerated figures of the oil officer's salary were totally incorrect . If your reporter could not reach the agitating odfficers , at least they could have confirmed it the same with oil company Managements (finance/hr) , they were available , and not hiding.
Minimum you can do is to give an apology on your channel , which would vindicate the stand of oil officers, and certainly add value to your reputed channel.
Trust mu appeal would stir your conscience
